Sea Bass/Fluke report
The fishing was flat out awesome today. Today I had Dan Collins and his 2 brother in-laws aboard Archangel for the best day of bottom fishing we've had all summer. We fished the Shrewsbury Rocks and we had non-stop catching from the first drop until the end. We went through a 3lb bag of Spearing, and 3 bags of Chartreuse Gulp swimming minnows, the first time that's ever happened on my boat. The guys had 2 fish that qualify for New Jersey's Skillful Angler award with a 4lb. Sea Bass and an 8 1/2 lb. Fluke, the biggest we've had on my boat this year. We filled the cooler with keepers with a great ratio of about 5 to 1 keepers to throwbacks. Great bunch of guys and great fun, at one point everyone took a break from the action and went swimming. Perfect day on the water with glass-like conditions. I have charters the next 2 days and hopefully it stays like this or gets better.

Sea Bass/Fluke report
Sorry this report is a day late! Yesterday I had "Alex" fishing with me on Archangel and we had another solid day with the Sea Bass, Fluke, and Ling. It was nice having only one angler on the boat because it gave me an opportunity to do some fishing myself. We caught a zillion short Fluke and Sea Bass and a nice pick of keepers as well with pretty constant action all day. I was doing a little experiment with Berkeley Gulp to see which color and pattern the fish liked the most but the results were inconclusive, the fish seemed to like it all about the same. I just canceled tomorrow's trip because of projected 6-7' swell and rain and winds to 20 knots, hope to be back on the water on Sunday.

Gorgeous Sea Bass today on Archangel
My charter today drove all the way up from Athens, Georgia to fish with me on Archangel. We had great action all day with dozens of short fluke and some gorgeous keeper Sea Bass. The best part was that they are staying in a local hotel so I took them to my favorite local watering hole so they could enjoy their fish. The chef cooked us up their fresh Sea Bass 3 different ways--Sauteed with bacon and leeks, Ceviche style, and Sashimi. (Thanks Allie!) If there's a better eating fish than fresh Sea Bass then I don't know what it is. An awesome day of fishing, drinking, and eating with some really nice people. The wind kicked up out of the south around noon and that pretty much killed our drift and the bite, luckily we were on the water at 7am and got the most out of our day. A lot of fish came over the rail today and if they were to lower to lower the size limit on Fluke to 17 inches we could've filled the cooler with them too.
