Marco, Mike, and Pete had an amazing day aboard the Archangel with the Albies once again. We had action pretty much all morning and left the fish biting. These guys did an amazing job on the little speed demons. What a difference a day makes, today the fish weren't busting on the surface at all, instead we relied on the birds to give away the location of the fish. The guys caught a ton of fish and this year continues to amaze. By the day's end the deck was completely covered in blood. If you would like to get in on this action I have a couple of dates available next week--originally I wasn't going to fish but we have a very strong bite right now with Bluefish and some Stripers in the mix as well.

False Albacore!
What a blast we had today with the False Albacore. We found large schools of these lightning fast members of the Tuna family blowing up on bait this morning right off the beaches of Deal, NJ. With the exception of maybe large Jack Crevalle in Florida, these have to be some of the fastest fish I've ever landed on rod and reel. Small jigs were the ticket, Ava 007's with plain trailer hooks and small Crippled Herring were the ticket. This was a very early morning bite, all of our action was between 7:30 and 9:30 and then they were gone. Until we scaled back our rigs to very light flurocarbon line with small lures we were not getting them but then after that it was game on. Some of the best inshore fishing I've ever experienced in New Jersey, they don't come around very often and when they do it's a matter of placing yourself in the right place at the right time. You bet your ass we'll be back out there every day this week, drop me a line if you're interested.

Awesome Bluefishing 9-10
Yesterday we had the first great inshore Bluefishing trip of the fall. I had Alex and 11 of his friends on the Skylarker II for a bachelor party and we were greeted by birds and Bluefish exploding on top of the water right as we cleared the inlet. After running for a little while we decided to stop short of our original destination because there were fish everywhere. It ended up being the only stop of the day as we were instantly into big Bluefish with everyone hooked up. Tony had the surprise of the day though boating a nice Striper in the 32-34 inch range on a bunker chunk. Ava Jigs were the ticket though, the jig outfished the bait by about 15 fish to 1, it was insane. We were casting and reeling as fast as we could so the jig was skipping a long the surface, like a popper. The Blues were pursuing it ferociously and generally acting like big bluefish do. One of my favorite trips of the year. These guys were a lot of fun and the fishing was on fire. Special thanks to Captain Steve and mate Billy for doing a kick ass job also.
