The NJ Slam.

Awesome fishing again today with a little bit of everything. We decided to start earlier than normal this morning and we broke the inlet at 5:30 am. There were solid 3 to 4 foot waves with the wind blowing out of the N.E. and we were taking water over the bow, think "Victory at Sea." We were determined to catch some Stripers though and that means getting an early jump. There is all kinds of life out there right now and we ended up catching the full bounty of what NJ has to offer in mid October with Striped Bass, Bluefish, False Albacore, Weakfish, and even some nice big Fluke (which are out of season and had to be returned to the ocean). Ava Jigs are pretty much all you need right now in order to catch a NJ ocean slam.

False albacore/Weakfish/Bluefish/Sea Bass=Great fishing

Today I had my good friend Jamison Pollitt on the boat with me (and Nick too) and it was a beautiful day on the water with glass like conditions and not much wind. there were False Albacore everywhere and we also had Weakfish on literally every drop of the jig. it was nice to see them around again, even if they were mostly pretty small. We were one Striped Bass shy of some kind of ocean slam as we had Weakfish, False Albacore, Bluefish, and Sea Bass. There is a ton of bait in the water and all signs point to an awesome Fall for fishing.

Lastly, today I got bit by A Bluefish for the first time and it was highly unpleasant. He clamped down on my hand and wouldn't let go. Nick had to pry his jaws open with a pair of pliers and it hurt(s) like hell and bled like hell. -Mickey

Bluefish Apocalypse.

We absolutely smoked the Bluefish today. All on jigs too, which is my favorite way to catch those mean fuckers. I love it when the anglers on my boat cry "mercy". They actually threw in the towel after the first 50 fish so I took them out for Sea Bass and we mopped up on them too. Awesome fishing today. Stripers will be here any day now, get ready.

Fall fishing underway

Fished from 3am last night until 8am. Surf clams were washed up everywhere and we used them for bait. Had a lot of smooth dogs and skates throughout the night and a nice bass shortly after first light. Also had a nice fish hooked up that came unbuttoned after a minute. Water is starting to clean up nicely.
