Nice f@ckin' Smallies

Today was the Delaware River Fishermans Association Smallmouth Bass Tournament, of which I am a member. most of their events are held on stretches of the river that I don't normally fish, but I was very excited for today as it was supposed to be on my stretch of river. Well as it turns out they cancelled it because they said the river was too high and "dangerous". I have been fishing this muddy water for over a month and I was really bummed because at this point I have the fish pretty well patterned, mud or not. It's too bad because I would have a good shot as you can see by the pictures and video which are attached. This fish was landed on a watermelon Senko worm rigged whacky style. Good fishing, except when we film
Yesterday we attempted (for the 7th time) to film a new episode of the fishing show and as has been typical of this spring we ran into major problems. I dunno what it is, I've had a great spring with a lot of quality fish, but as soon as we bring the video camera everything goes wrong. Yesterday we went offshore to film a mako shark/ bluefin tuna trip. One of the outboard motors on our boat died and instead we limped back home for like 3 or 4 hours after sort of catching only one Blue Shark. It's a long story......

New Leader in Bass Derby

Hi guys, it has been raining like hell here on the east coast for the past month so fishing has been a "get it while you can" deal. We have a new leader in the Brownietroop Bass Derby (Largemouth division) with Brian Behne's 6.96 lb. Colorado fish. For details on entering the derby please click the link above.

June 15--Day of days

The spring Striped Bass run has been pretty good to me and most of my fishing buddies, but it was missing that one big day, a day when all hell breaks loose and you are there when the Bass go berserk gorging themselves on baitfish on the surface. Yesterday I was fortunate enough to be on the water for one of the best trips of my life. I met my friend "Loosedrags" Mike at 3am to hit the ocean bright and early. Nothing happened for us for the first 10 hours and then BOOM, we see the water start exploding all around us. Ultimately we ended up landing somewhere between 30 and 40 bass and NONE of them were under 30 lbs. Days like this are the reason I fish. The fish were taken on pencil poppers and live bunker.
